‘Spring Hoedown’ a winner

Samford RDA’s inaugural ‘Spring Hoedown’ fundraising event has raised more than $10,000 to support our program.

The Jenny O’Malley Arena was transformed into a country dance hall for this old-style bush dance. It was attended by some 200 guests who enjoyed a great evening of hospitality, food and dancing.

We sincerely thank major sponsors, the City of Moreton Bay and IGA Drakes Samford; plus a host of supporters including Golden Valley Keperra Lions, Rode Meats, Samford Patisserie and Simon George & Sons.

Samford RDA also thanks the Riley Motor Club of Queensland for selecting us as the beneficiary of their second annual classic car show on Sunday October 4.

This event at Samford Showgrounds is open to all classic cars, trucks and motorcycles from 9am. The cash entry fee for both display and visitor vehicles is just $5.

Samford RDA President, Michael Costello, said support for the charity from the local community was amazing.

“We do not receive government funding, so we are very grateful for the support from businesses and local residents and community groups,” he said. “Funds raised from special events such as the Hoedown and the Classic Car Show are used to maintain the centre, feed our RDA horses, purchase equipment and run our programs.”
