Another grant for Noddy

Samford RDA horse Noddy (pictured) has received a second $5,000 grant from the Queensland Off the Track (OTT) Program to assist with his care.

As an ex-racehorse, Noddy is eligible for annual grants to support his new ‘career’ in supporting people with a disability. However the funding has come at a perfect time.

Last year, Noddy was suffering from a gastric problem when financial assistance arrived. This year, it was rain scald – a painful skin condition, all healed now.

Noddy raced as ‘Hey Frisco’ in his former life, but made an easy transition from galloper to reliable RDA horse. He also delights our riders and volunteers alike with his gentle but cheeky nature.

We sincerely thank the OTT Program for supporting the placement of retired racehorses and pacers to promote productive lives after racing. Our herd has had several ex-racehorses over the years, proving the adaptability of horses of all breeds and sizes to meet the strict requirements necessary to work with people with a disability.
