Samford RDA horse Noddy (pictured) will benefit from a $5,000 grant from the Queensland Off the Track (OTT) Program which assists ex-racehorses in their new ‘careers’.
Now almost 18 years old, Noddy was known as ‘Hey Frisco’ during his racing days. From galloping around a racetrack, Noddy has made an amazing transition to work sedately and patiently with disabled riders. His gentle nature and cheeky playfulness make him a favourite among our participants.
The OTT Program supports the placement of retired racehorses and pacers to promote productive lives after racing. The grant will help to meet Noddy’s training, vet, farrier, feed and care expenses.
Samford RDA greatly appreciates this practical support. Our herd has had several ex-racehorses over the years, proving that horses of all breeds and sizes may adapt to meet the strict requirements necessary to work with people with a disability.
