Lesson program expansion

The Samford RDA lesson program is expanding this year with the introduction of two late afternoon Tuesday sessions.

Our program expansion was made possible through recent improvements to the Jenny O’Malley Arena as well as the restructuring of existing classes. An additional eight riders will benefit from RDA lessons, and a total of some 80 riding spots will be offered in 2019 in an effort to reduce the long wait list for our services.

Of course, we rely heavily on volunteers to offer RDA lessons – so newcomers are most welcome! Volunteering at RDA is a great way to keep fit, meet people and give back to the community. Horse riding and handling experience is not necessary, and volunteers can give as little or as much time as they wish.

Become a volunteer!

Volunteers must be 14 years and older and can assist with a variety of activities including feeding and saddling horses, working with riders in the arena, and grounds management.

Volunteer induction sessions will be held at Samford RDA from 9am until 12 noon on Friday February 8; Saturday February 9; Wednesday February 20; and Sunday March 17.

Inductions are required to volunteer in classes or to assist with horses, and all participants must wear closed-in shoes for safety purposes.

For more information about becoming a volunteer or to book a spot in an induction session, call Mel on 0438 128 790.
