Accessible amenities block at RDA

Works are underway on a new disability-access amenities block at our centre at Samford Showgrounds.

The Council-funded project, which has been the subject of discussions for the past few years, will provide two accessible toilets, a shower and a laundry.

The main disability access bathroom will be a registered ‘Changing Places’ design. Changing Places is an international organisation offering designs that meet the highest standards of disability access and compliance.

The new facilities will be built next to the RDA office and pathway to the RDA site and includes a large cement loading and unloading pad, compliant pathways for easy wheelchair access, plus a laundry for washing horse rugs, saddle pads and other gear.

We sincerely thank local councillors Ellie Smith and Cath Tonks for supporting this project. We are also grateful for the cooperation from the project team at Moreton Bay City Council and Tallan Group Pty Ltd to manage the works around our weekly operations.

The amenities block is due for completion by the third quarter of this year.
