About the event

Volunteering at RDA is a great way to meet people, stay fit and make a real difference to the lives of others – so if you’re interested in joining us, we would love to hear from you.

RDA sessions for children and adults with a disability are held under cover in the Jenny O’Malley Arena at Samford Showgrounds each Wednesday, Friday and Saturday (excluding school holidays). We need volunteers to be involved in a wide range of activities such as helping to care for RDA horses, lead horses and support riders during lessons, assist with grounds maintenance, clean tack and carry out many other duties.

To become a Samford RDA volunteer, you must be 14 years or older. A background in horses is helpful but not necessary. You can give as little or as much time as you want, and you are not locked into a weekly commitment. We require all volunteers to wear closed-in shoes and observe RDA safety procedures.

We also require volunteers who assist with horses or work in classes to attend an induction.
